Frequently Asked Questions (by Dr. Jianjun Feng)
Question 1: Is solar water heater working better and more efficient during summer than winter?
Answer: No. Performance of solar water heater bears a no relation to seasons because the principle of hot water produced by solar water heater is collecting solar radiation. Therefore, solar water heater can provides hot water even below – 30 0 C condition. The different output of hot water between summer and winter is due to the length of sunshine. Improvement of inner absorbance coating is greatly enhancing the solar collector’s absorbance efficient and the ability of collecting solar infrared ray. Solar water heater can provide and meet almost all of a house hot water needs at all times.
Question 2: Do we have to remove our present water heater and change our life habit to use solar water heater?
Answer: No. Solar water heaters are simply connected with your present water heater to ensure that hot water is available at all times. Water heaters at your house, restaurant and motel heat water by gas or electricity. They are controlled by pre-set temperature (120—140 oF) and automatically heat the water as long as the water temperature inside the water heater tank is below the pre-set temperature point. When connected to solar water heater, your water heater get hot water (160—203 oF) from solar water heater instead of cold water and make your water heater reduce or even not use the amount of gas to heat water.
During accidental periods of insufficient sunshine or high hot water demand, a backup gas or electricity will heat the water to ensure the supply of hot water at all times.
Question 3: How much can we save?
Answer: Your monthly savings will depend on the amount of hot water you use, storage tank size and type and price of fuel used for backup water heating. A solar water heater should save over 85% of the hot water portion of the monthly utility bill, if the backup element is kept at 1220 F. For a family of four, the typical hot water usage is 80- gallons per day, thus saving $650 per year worth of gas at current gas rate.
Restaurants and motels, which are consuming much more hot water, can save more. One time low investment gets short time high return.
Question 4: How about water quality through solar water heater?
Answer: Cold water is heated by energy carrier inside solar water heater by energy exchange. Water quality would not be changed.
Question 5: Is solar water strong enough and good for all houses? Is there any safety concerning?
Answer: Sunfire solar water heater has excellent wind-resistance, hail-resistance and anti-freezing ability. Due to utilization of active system, the type of solar water heater can be fixed and installed at unlimited locations. Sunfire solar water heater can be installed for more than 95% properties. Before installation, professional technician would select the optimum place for installation.
Don’t worry about safety issue because solar water heater doesn’t connect with electricity or any other power source.
Question 6: How long solar water heater will take to provide hot water and how long it can preserve the hot water?
Answer: New intervene film technology makes solar water heaters have high heat efficiency. 3-5 hour sunlight can supply 122—203 oF hot water. Advanced technology minimizes heat loss and the duration of heat preservation of the solar water heater is 80 hours.
Question 7: Is solar water heater reliable?
Answer: Sunfire solar water heater works under different circumstance conditions and should perform well for 20 years. Meanwhile, Sunfire solar water heater come with 3 years limited warranty.
Question 8: How much does a solar water heater cost?
Answer: A unit of Sunfire solar water heater can provide 80 gallon hot water and cost anywhere about $3000. Fro restaurant and motel, more than 2 units of solar water heater may be required because only one
unit may not supply enough hot water.
